1) もし機会があれば /  If I have a good chance

最終日、時間があったら、素敵な景色が見られるという 'ペトシーン/ Petrin の丘'に行きたいと思っていました。(説明→★/ ★)

'ペトシーン'は、プラハの中心にある327mの高さの丘で、モルダウ川左岸から130mほど上にあります。

丘はほぼ公園になっているため、プラハの人々にも利用されています。

フランツ・カフカ (1883 - 1924) や ミラン・クンデラ (1929 -) の作品の中にも書かれているそうです。

私はそれらの作品も読んでいませんし、チェコで生まれ、現在はフランス人の
ミラン・クンデラという作家も今回初めて知りました。

'ペトシーンの丘' の名の由来は、ラテン語の 'ペトラ/ Petra' からきていると言われています。

それは、プラハの多くの古い建物は、'ペトシーンの丘' の岩を使用して建てられ、
'ペトシーンの丘' の '飢えの壁'/ Hunger Wall (1362) も、同様の岩を用いています。

'ペトシーンの丘' は長い間、プラハの街と人々と、寄り添ってきた仲なのですね。

最終日、'行って帰ってくるだけ' の行き方になりましたが、行くことはできました。

トラムの 'ウージェズダ/ Újezd 停留所' で降り、その後はケーブルカーの発着所 : 'Petřín Funicular 駅' まで歩きました。

If I have a good chance

On our last day of the trip, if I could make a time, I would visit 'Petrin Hill', because 
I had read we could see lovely views from the hill.

Petřín is a hill in the centre of Prague, 327m and rises about 130 m above the left bank of the Vltava River. 

The hill is mostly parks and used by the inhabitants of Prague.

They say the hill is written about in the works of Franz Kafka (1883 - 1924) and 
Milan Kundera (1929 -). 

I haven't read the works and it was first time I found out about the novelist, 
Milan Kundera, who was born in Czech and now he is a French national.

They say Petřín's name came from the Latin word 'petra' meaning rock, the hill being largely rock and many old buildings and the "Hunger Wall" (1362) on 'Petrin Hill' were built using stone from the hill.

'Petrin Hill' has been the heart of the town and the people of Prague for a long time, hasn't it?

On the last day, even though I just went there and back, anyway I could make it.

I got off the tram at 'Újezd stop' and walked to the 'Petřín Funicular Station'.

2) 彫像群 / Array of Sculptures

共産主義の犠牲者の碑

小地区、ウージェズダ 通り/ Újezd Street 沿いの公園内にあります。

1948年から1989年の共産主義支配時の犠牲者のための碑です。
夜は足元からライトで照らされます→★

この日よりも以前に、トラムからこの彫像群があるのは気がついていました。

何かしら？と思いつつもこのためだけに行ってみる気にはなれませんでした。

けれでも、この日、偶然そばを通る機会に恵まれたので撮影しました。

形態としては、プラハに数多くある彫像に比べると抽象的な作品ですが、

内容的なストレートさは同様に感じます。

このような作品を記念碑として残さずにはいられないチェコ....

人々が癒される日がはやく来ますように....。

"銅像の近くの説明版にはこうあります。

共産主義の犠牲者の碑は、投獄されたり処刑されたりした人々に

捧げられるだけでなく、全体主義専制により、

生活(人生かも？)を台無しにされた人々の皆のためでもあります"

The Memorial to the victims of Communism

It is set in a park along Újezd street in the Malá Strana.

The Memorial is to victims under Communism from 1948 to 1989.
They are lit up from below at night→★

Before the day, I realized this array of sculptures is there from the tram.

I wondered what they are, although I would not visit there just for the statues.

However, by chance on the day I passed near to here and photographed. 

I feel that about the form, this is more abstract than 
the many other statues in Prague,

however, about the substance, this is similar to them.

Czech must leave work like that....

I hope the people could been healed soon.

According to Wikipedia : ★

"The bronze plaque nearby reads :

The memorial to the victims of communism is dedicated to all victims not only those who were jailed or executed but also 
those whose lives were ruined by totalitarian despotism"

枝垂れる丸い明るい葉は、もしかしたら花かもしません。

The light colour hanging strings with round leaves might be their flowers.

It looks like a toy...

ケーブルカーからプラハ城が見えました。
I saw Prague caste from the Funicular Railway.

ケーブルカーからのプラハの街
中腹に"ネボジーゼク / Nebozízek 駅" があり、
そこで降りるとプラハの良い景色が見られるとあとになって知りました。
けれども、この景色が見られたので善し！

There is the Nebozízek Station half-way up.
Later I knew that if we get off the railway there,
we could see a lovely view of Prague.
But I saw this, it was alright.

4) 丘の上 / Hill Top 


丘の上の滞在時間は20分ほど。

私達の旅行はいつでものんびりしているのに、このときばかりは、駆け足状態でした。

We stayed at the hill top about 20 minutes.

Our trips are usually slowly, but just for this one, we almost ran.

バラ園 / Rose Garden

バラ園があると知らなかったので、嬉しい驚きがありました。
私がもしもプラハに住んでいて、一人でぼーっとしたい時には、
ここに来るのかもしれません。

I did not know here has rose gardens, that was a pleasant surprise.
If I lived in Prague and when I wanted to be absentminded, alone,
I might come here.

プラハ城まで近いと言われていますが、
私はここから徒歩で行くことは遠慮したいです。
ストラホフ修道院 なら、歩いても良いかな？
どちらにしても、この日はこの看板を見るだけです。

They say Prague Castle is close to here, 
although I would hesitate to go on foot from here.
Maybe I could walk to Strahov Monastery.
Whatever, I could only see this sight on the day.

この日は、時間がなくて、入るどころか、正面に行く時間もありませんでした。

On the day, we were far from the entry, even we could not go to its front.

手前の壁が"飢えの壁"

聖ヴィート、カレル橋、カレル大学、新市街を作った、

カール4世 / Karl IV (1316 -1378 / ボヘミア王在位1346 - 1378) は、

"飢えの壁"も作っています。

カール4世 は、生活に困っている者へ仕事を与えるために、

たいして必要ではなかったこの壁を作りました。

そのために"飢えの壁"と後世になって呼ばれるようになりました。

　なんだか、今の日本でも公共事業という名目で、
同じようなことしているような？

Charles IV (1316 -1378 / King of Bohemia reign 1346 - 1378)

made St.Vitus Cathedral, Charles Bridge, Charles University and NewTown. 

Moreover, he made this 'Hunger Wall' for poor people to have work and be paid,

even though the wall was not so necessary. 
Later the wall was called 'Hunger Wall'.

Somehow I feel that we do similar things, called Public Works in Japan.

展望台 / Petrin Lookout Tower

エッフェル塔を模したという高さ63.5メートルの展望台

本家の5分の１です。

有料のエレベーターか、無料の299段の螺旋階段かを選び、

頂上へ行きます。

良い景色なのは想像がつきますが、この日は下からこの塔を見上げるだけです。

It is copied from the Eiffel Tower, the hight is 63.5m.

The size is one 5th of the original.

We choose from two ways to get the top; 

1) Pay, using the lift

2) Free, 299 steps of spiral staircase.

I could easily guess we can get good views there,
however, I just looked up at it on the day.

トラムを利用するのは、これが最後でした。
I used the tram for the last time.

5) チェコ旅行終了 / Finish Czech Trip

ようやく、6月14日から19日の5泊6日のチェコ旅行のブログが終えられます。

チェスキー・クルムロフ2泊 (14,15日)

プラハに3泊 (16~18日) 

ブログにアップしだしたのが、8月29日 (下記) からでした。

美味しい飴玉をいつまでも口の中に入れているような状態でした。

飴玉は３ヶ月近くも持ちませんね (苦笑) 。

プラハはプラハ城を中心にしたので、ほかの建物の中にほとんど入っていません。

次回は入ってみたいと思います。

次回が作れれば良いな〜

....それには個展 ( おそらく2017年) に向けて、作品づくりをしっかりしなくては！

Finish Czech Trip

Finally I could finish Czech Trip in my blog, 5 night 6 day ; 14th ~19th of June.

Český Krumlov, 2 night 3 days, 14th and 15th 

Prague, 3 nights 4 days, 16th ~ 18th.

I started writing about this trip on 29th of August, 2015 (below).

For me, it felt like having delicious candy in my mouth for ever, but the candy cannot be kept for nearly three months (wry smile).

In Prague, I concentrated on Prague Castle,  I haven't seen the insides of most other buildings so I would see them next time...

I hope I will make another trip in Prague.

My next exhibition should be in two years time and then I will have trips abroad, so if I want to make another trip to Czech, I should work steadily for my exhibition, 2017.
