     "Kamisama-no-Karute": a Japanese Novel

A. 舞台が松本 / Novel's Location is Matsumoto

私は海外でも国内でも殆どの旅行の場合、一度だけ訪れることになります。

訪れた先では、またここに来たいと思うけれど、なかなか実現されません。

けれども、松本は珍しく複数回訪れています。

訪れる目的はその都度違います。

今回、私が松本に来たかったのは、『神様のカルテ』を読み、その舞台が松本だからでした。

松本城もあり、雰囲気がある町並みですし、クラフトの町(市)でもあるし、Rも楽しめると思ってもいました...

Novel's Location is Matsumoto

When I have had trips in Japan or overseas, I rarely visit again, even though  at the time I thought I would return.

However, I have been to Matsumoto a few times.

Every visit has a different purpose. 

I would visit Matsumoto this time because I read a novel, "Kamisama-no-Karute ; God's Medical Chart" and the story's location is Matsumoto.

And also I guessed R could enjoy Matsumoto, because there is Matsumoto Castle, the streets have a good atmosphere and the city is popular as a Craft Town (City).

B. ストレート / Straightforwardness

2011年に『神様のカルテ』が映画化されました。→★

私はシリーズ３巻とも読み、映画も見ています。

『神様のカルテ-2』が2014年3月に映画化されています(★) が、こちらは見ていません。

作者は現役の医者、小説の主人公も医者で、夏川草介 (ナツカワソウスケ)は

ペンネーム。

"ペンネームは大好きな作家の名前を並べただけなんです。

夏は夏目漱石、川は川端康成、介は芥川龍之介で、草は漱石の「草枕」からです。"

物語もペンネームの理由に近い、素直な流れがあると感じます。

私がこの作品が好きなのは、そういうストレートなものがあるからなのです。

きれいな空気や水、景色などに囲まれていると自ずと素直な気持ちになって、素直な作品ができるのではないかな〜とこの旅行の後で思いました。

Straightforwardness 

The novel became a film : "Kamisama-no-Karute" in 2011. →★

I read the series and watched the film, although I haven't seen a new film : "Kamisama-no-Karute -2"  March, 2014. →★

The author is a doctor in active service and the name 'Natsukawa Sousuke / 

夏川草介' is a pseudonym.

He explained his choice of pseudonym, 

according to Asahi News 15th of July in 2014,

"I  made my pseudonym simply by using characters from my favourite authors's names,  

 "夏: Natsu came from Natsume Souseki (1867 - 1916)

  川: kawa came from Kawabata Yasunari (1899 - 1972)

  草: sou came from a work of Natsume Souseki :" Kusamakura / 草枕"

  介 : suke came from Akutagawa Ryunosuke (1892 - 1927)"

In my view, the stories have similar straightforwardness to the reason for the pseudonym. 

I do like the series because it has purity, the characters and stories are above board. 

After this Nagano Trip, I thought if people are surrounded by clean air, water and beautiful views, they might automatically have pure feelings and then they could make straightforward stories. 

2) 日本浮世絵博物館 / The Japan Ukiyo-e Museum

10日は、最初の予定としては、松本市内観光、散策でした。

ですが、前日からRが風邪をひいてしまい、いろいろなところに出歩くのが難しい状況になりました。

『神様のカルテ』の主人公が務める病院が本庄病院といい、そのモデルが松本市内にある相澤病院 : ★です。

観光がてらその病院へ彼をつれていこうと思いましたが、あまりにも具合が悪いのでホテルの目の前にある個人病院へ結局行きました。

そこのドクターもなかなか雰囲気のある(だって蝶ネクタイつけているのですよ〜）方で、看護師さん達の応対も親切で、彼の状態も含めてをその病院へ連れて行って本当に良かったです。

Rは薬を飲んでしばらく寝ると、どこかへ行きたがったので、彼が一番行きたいと思っている日本浮世絵美術館にホテルからタクシーで行きました。

The Japan Ukiyo-e Museum

My plan on the 10th was sightseeing Matsumoto City and walking.

However, R had got a cold since yesterday, it was difficult to walk around somewhere.

In "Kamisama-no-Karute", the main character works for a hospital: Honjo Hospital, 

it is based on Aizawa Hospital in Matsumoto.

Then I wanted to take him there for his health, as well as for my sightseeing even though he looked so bad, ultimately however, we went to the closest doctor's surgery.

The surgery doctor has quite a good atmosphere, because he is calm and he wears a bow tie!

Moreover the nurses are kind and also his condition was not good, so it was correct we went to that surgery.

After he had medicine and sleep, he would go somewhere, so we went to

 "The Japan Ukiyo-e Museum" which he most wanted to visit.

外国人のツアーグループがいました。

浮世絵の工程がショートフィルムになっていて

英語版と日本語版の両方が上映されています。

もしかしたら、浮世絵は外国の方の方に、より人気があるのかもしれません。

実際、Rもここに一番来たかったのです。

There was a tourist group of foreigners.

They show us a film of making Ukiyo-e in Japanese and English.

Maybe Ukiyo-e is more popular for foreigners.

Actually R most wanted to come here. 

展示もゆっくり見られました。

今回の常設展 : 東海道五十三次：４月1日〜6月29日：★では

[神奈川•保土ヶ谷•戸塚]

がとりあげられていたので、より身近に感じ、興味深く見ました。

I saw their display without hurrying.

Permanent Exhibition ; 1st of April - 29th of June : ★

"Five editions of The 53 stages of the Tokaido"

And also they concentrated on  

[Kanagawa, Hodogaya, and Totsuka] 

so I was more interested in them, as they are local to us.

3) "松本歴史の里" 
     "Matsumoto City Open - Air Architectural Museum"

日本浮世絵美術館のお隣に、"松本市歴史の里"があり、そにには「日本司法博物館」や野麦峠の工女宿などあります。

Ukiyo-e Museum is next door to the "Matsumoto-no-Sato : Matsumoto City Open - Air Architectural Museum" which includes "Japan Law Court Museum". 

建物だけも素敵！
The building is interesting.

雨に降られる前にホテルに帰りました。
We returned to our hotel before the rain.
