1)ロイヤルアカデミー / The Royal Academy

フォトナムメイソン(F&M)の向かいはロイヤルアカデミー。

残念ながら、この日は入館する時間が持てませんでした。

The Royal Academy is opposite Fortnum & Mason (F&M). 

I did not have time for 'The Royal Academy', that's too bad.

2) 像のシリーズ / Elephant Series

黒と白のカラーの服を着ているこの男性と象を

一緒に撮りたかったのです。

I would photograph this elephant with this man who wears black and white, like the statue?

ピンクのシャツを着た方とピンクの♥をつけた象を撮影！

It is like a golden cavern.
You can pretend you are a dwarf and dig your treasures 
which are cakes, bags and so on depending on you.

CAVIAR HOUSE

レストランではキャビアとシャンパンだけでもOKとか。

レストランはキャビアをその場で缶に詰めてくれる
お店の奥にあります。

でも私はRがキャビア(魚の卵)が嫌いですし、
お値段も良すぎて……、

私がそのレストランの席についていることは想像できません。

ウィンドウディスプレイでは共産主義の赤と英国旗の赤を
同じ場所に置いて、私達は一緒だね〜、仲良しよね〜
と言いたいの？
それは考え過ぎでしょうか？

You can eat only caviar and Champagne
 in a restaurant Caviar House. 

It is behind their shop selling caviar, hand-packed and by the tin. 

I cannot imagine that I have a table in the restaurant, because R does not like caviar (or any fish eggs),
 and its cost is too good for me or us.

There were reds of communism and 
British national flag in the same window, 

they might suggest that we are the same, 
we are together, aren't we? 

Do I guess too much?

4) ロンドンアイ / London Eye

 多くの人がここから写真を撮ります。
それだけ魅力が在る風景がここにはあるということでよね。

Many people take photographs of the Eye from here.
It means here is such an attractive view.

5) ウォータールー駅または
     ロンドンウォータール駅 
     Waterloo station or London Waterloo station

この駅の名前はウォータールーの戦い/ The Battle of Waterloo1815 (日本ではワルテルローの戦い) から来ています。

この戦いは英国と他のヨーロッパの国々の連合軍がナポレオン率いるフランス帝国軍と戦い、連合軍側が勝利し、ナポレン戦争に終止符を打ったのです(ロシア遠征失敗後のだめおしだったのですね)。

この駅に来ると、海外に来ていることをとても感じます。

日本ではこのような駅を私は知りません。

とってもひろびろしています。

When I come to Waterloo station, I certainly feel that I am abroad, 

because I do not know a station like this in Japan. 

Here is really open.

英国軍の指揮官はウェリントン公(彼は若い頃フランスでフランス語を学んでいます)で、彼はペニンシラの戦い/Peninsula War1805(日本では半島戦争)でも勝利をおさめています。

この戦いにF&Mが貢献した事がF&MのWEB: "私達の歴史 / Our History" :http://www.fortnumandmason.com/our_history.aspx

の中にひとつのタイトル'私たちのウォータールー/Our Waterloo'に載っています。

実際のウォータールー(ワルテルロー)は現在のベルギーにあります。

ユーロスター(Eurostar)は1994年から2007年の間、ここ、ウォータールーからパリを通り、ベルギーの首都ブリュッセルをつないでいました。

フランスとの戦いの勝利記念の名前を持つこの駅、ウォータールー駅がフランスに対しての玄関になることを思うと、英国人がにんまりしていた様子が目に浮かびます。

ですが、現在の始発駅はセント・パラス駅(St. Pancras station )なので、その笑いも止まっていることでしょう。

ウォータールー駅はユーロスターに使用され、いくつもの建築の賞を獲得した特別なプラットフォーム(20番~24番)は保持しています。

土地がないという概念を持ってる日本人の私は、その巨大なスペースを放置しておける英国の太っ腹さ加減がすごい！と思います。

とにかく、ユーロスターに乗ってヨーロッパ大陸へ行きたいです。

私はどこの駅を発着駅に使用するのか気にしませんよ。

Victory Arch is the Main Entrance

Waterloo station or London Waterloo station

The name commemorates The Battle of Waterloo 1815. 

This war was fought between the Allied Forces of Britain and some European countries against the Imperial French army under the command of Emperor Napoleon and the Allied Forces won, as well as this was Napoleon's last battle. 

The British army was under the command of the Duke of Wellington, who learned French in France when he was young. 

Also he was commander of the combined allies for part of the Peninsular War 1805~1815. 

F&M' Website : http://www.fortnumandmason.com/our_history.aspx shows their contribution to the war, 'Our Waterloo' in "Our History".

Waterloo is in present-day Belgium.

From 1994 to 2007, Waterloo station had been the London terminal of Eurostar, which was connecting London with Paris and Brussels. 

When the service started, I guess that some British gloated over the French arriving in London at Waterloo station. 

Perhaps they have stopped gloating, because St. Pancras station is the new terminal for the new high speed railway.

Waterloo has still kept the special Eurostar platforms, 20~24. 

The building was given a few architectural awards. 

General speaking Japanese have the concept that we do not have enough land, so we should use space very efficiently. 

I am Japanese so I have the concept too. 

I feel British can leave the huge space in Waterloo station, it is very generous for me!

Anyway, I would like to visit continental Europe by Eurostar, I do not mind any station for Eurostar.
