1) デザイン・ディストリクト・ヘルシンキ
    Design District Helsinki  

ヘルシンキ・デザイン・ディストリクト(ヘルシンキ・デザイン地区) とは、デザイン地区協会によって、フィンランド・デザインの発信地として認定されたお店が集まっています。

その中心は、ディアナプイスト公園 / Dianapuisto で、そこからカールティンカウプンキ/ Kaartinkaupunki、カンピ/ Kamppi、プナヴオリ/ Punavuori、ウッランリンナ/ Ullanlinna地区へと広がってゆきます。

というのがネットでリサーチしてまとめたものですが、伝統的な観光地でない地域を活性化するために、設けられた地区名であり、クリエイティヴな活動をする店やギャラリーが集まっているのだなと私は思います。

現在は、"エスプラナーディ公園 / Esplanadi Park (Esplanade Park)" の方まで、広がっているようです。

Design District Helsinki 
The Design District Helsinki is the area of concentrated shops which are certified by the Design District Helsinki as places promoting Finnish Design.

The centre of the Design District is Dianapuisto, and then it spreas out to Punavuori, Kaartinkaupunki, Kamppi and Ullanlinna.

Above is my summery from Internet researches, though I think the name of the District was made for revitalizing some areas which are not traditionally tourist spots, and the area becomes a concentration of creative shops and galleries.

Nowadays it seems to reach Esplanadi Park (Esplanade Park).

2) 雑貨店 COMMON / COMMON

ヘルシンキ・デザイン・ディストリクト  / the Design District of Helsinki 内にある、"かもめ食堂" / RAVINTOLAKAMOME" を後にし、プルッシミエヘンカトゥ通り 
/ PURSIMIEHENKATUを歩き始めました。

目的地は、デザイン博物館 : ★です。

ふとウィンドウを見て、洗練されている店と感じてはいったのが、"COMMON"

でした。

 After RAVINTOLAKAMOME" in the Design District of Helsinki, we started walking.

Our destination was the Design Museum.

Unexpectedly I looked at the window, I felt it is a sophisticated shop and we entered the shop, "COMMON".

写真右が "OTTAIPNU" と呼ばれるブランドのバスマットで、
お店の人気商品ようです。

テキスタル・デザイナーの鈴木 マサルさんがデザインし、
ブランドも彼が主宰しています。

On the right : a bathmat of a brand "OTTAIPNU" , 
design by Masaru Suzuki who presides over the brand, too.
The bathmat seems to be popular in this shop.

素敵なものがたくさん、さすが北欧! と思ったら日本製品でした(笑)。

デザインが、北欧のセンスにもあっていて、
こちらの人々にも好まれるように思います。

日本のセンスにどっぷりつかっている自分を感じて、嬉しいやら、悲しいやら.....

海外に出ても、日本の味であったり、日本のセンスであったりするものに、

自分がもっとも惹かれるのだな〜と認識します。
住む場所を英国でなく、居心地が良い日本を選んだことは、
自分にとっては、正解であったと再認識。

I thought there were many lovely things, indeed, Scandinavia design 
however, there are Japanese products (laugh).

I think their design suits Scandinavia sense 

and people in the countries seem to like them.

I feel I am soaked in Japanese sense, it is good or sad...

I recognize even though I am abroad,
 I am most attracted to Japanese taste or sense.
I selected Japan for my living, I am comfortable in Japan rather than in Britain,
which is correct for me and I see my selection in a new light.

置いてあるほとんどの商品に心ひかれます。

すでに私が日本の家に、持っているものなどもありました。

いくら良いなと思っても、ここで日本製品を買うわけにはゆきません...と
この時は思いましたが、旅先の思い出として買ってもよかったかな
と今は思います。

Most things captured me in the shop.

I already had some in Japan.

Even though I felt they were good, I was not able to buy Japanese products here....
I thought like this at that time, however, it might be good
 if I bought something as a memory of the trip there.

日本人のご夫妻で経営されていらっしゃいます。
This shop is managed by a Japanese couple.

飲食類のラッピングも素敵
The wrapping of food and drink are lovely. 

マリメッコのデザイナーとして活躍した日本人デザイナー、
石本 藤雄 (イシモトフジオ/ 1941 ~) 氏が作った
陶芸作品 (下) が置いてありました。

There was a ceramic work (below) by Fujio Ishimoto (1941 ~) 
who flourished as a designer in "marimekko".

ヘルシンキでは、野生のクマを見るツアーもあり、
クマも観光のひとつなのだと後になって知りました。
どうりで、ビールのグラスからタオルから、そのほか、

クマをデザインに組み込んでいるのを見ました。

ここのオーナーさんは、北欧センスにあわせて日本製品の中から
砂糖菓子的なクマではない、クマを選んでらっしゃるのですね。

Later I found out that there are tours for "wild bear watching" in Helsinki 

and now I know bears are parts of Helsinki sightseeing.

No wonder I saw bears designs for a beer glass, a towel and others.

The owners selected the bear design, not sugary type  

from Japanese products which suits Scandinavia sense, didn't they?

なにもかもが美しく思えてしまいます....
商品ではないラジエーターでさえも...

I feel everything is beautiful, even a radiator which is not an article for sale...

いろいろな思いを抱きつつ、このお店を出ました。

While I had miscellaneous thoughts, I left this shop.
