Bus To Enoshima Island

Tanaka San goes to the lithograph studio which I go to, recently she published her children's book  "Kuro no Pan-ya san": "Kuro's Bakery" by herself.

She holds her exhibition :  for the original lithographs in  'Art & Dining Space, Tabunoki' in Koshigoe, Kamakura.

The bus which runs from Kamakura Station to Enoshima stops at the closest bus stop to my house.

Always I get off the bus from the station at my bus stop, although today, I got on bus at my bus stop.

I am a stay-at-home, even something like this being the first time, made my heart beat a little faster and this was a small adventure for me.
About visiting Enoshima with R in 2013, below.

Now I think life can be repetition of small adventures plus some big adventures....

Otherwise, it is a journey?

Views From Bus
Views near by Miharashidai Bus Stop and I photographed from inside the bus.
You can just catch the horizon of Sagami Bay.
There are Cake Shop and Cafe, 'le milieu' and
a Japanese restaurant 'Kamakurayama Club' near by this Bus Stop.

Ryūkō-ji Temple Bus Stop

A. 江ノ電 / Enoden

Enoden : Enoden Tram  : Enoshima Electric Railway :

I got off my bus at Ryukouji Bus Stop.
This is just before 'Enoshima Kaigan (beach) Bus Stop'.
Enoden runs in the same road with cars, people and bicycles
around Takinokuchi, near this Bus Stop.
I am used to seeing Enoden, although in my area Enoden runs separately
from normal roads, so Enoden as a tram is unusual for me and
I really felt 'Sightseeing'.

Another Enoden came from the opposite direction : Enoshima.
I came by the bus on the right.

Thank you for Taiwan!
Today, Enoden cooperates with 'Pingxi Line' in Taiwan.
This is the opportunity to thank Taiwan which donated about two hundred million yen
"If you show Enoden Station Ticket Counters  a 'One Day Ticket of  Pingxi Line',
you could get a 'One Day Ticket for Enoden, free."

 Niō Gate
I visited the Temple before 'Tabunoki'.
Until today, I did not know about the Ryūkō-ji Tempel
I just had curiousity.
(Ryūkō-ji Temple means Dragon Mouth Temple)

 Dragon on Celling of Gate

A-Un of Niō Statues :
Niō or Kongōrikishi are two wrath-filled and muscular guardians of the Buddha standing today at the entrance of many Buddhist temples
in East Asian Buddhism in the form of frightening wrestler-like statues.
The term A-un is the transliteration in Japanese of the two syllables
"a" : open mouth (above) and "hūṃ" : close mouth (below).
By a Wooden Sculptor, Kyusaku Muraoka (1911 - 1989)

Sanmon : Temple Gate, 1864
There is a second gate, too.
It may be a bigger temple than I thought....

Wooden Carving of Dragon in the Centre
The Gate is made of Japanese Cypress : Hinoki and
the roof is covered by copper.

Both sides have Komainu : Lion-dogs.

I cannot decide if they are A-un.

Grand Main Building!
Here is spacious with a grand main building.
I was a little surprised.
But, somehow it might say simple... or unsetting atmosphere...
Official Website :  only in Japanese
 It was built in 1932.
This is made of Hinoki and the roof is made of copper.
 I found a Five-storied pagoda here.
This Pagoda cannot be seen from beyond the temple gate.

 Chōzuya
There is a dragon in Chōzuya, too.
Here, you wash your hands and your mouth to purify yourself before approaching.

Water comes from the mouth of this dragon.
Many other temples and shrines have dragons

Tatsu-no-kuchi

After I returned home, I found out that Ryūkō-ji Temple is a temple of the Nichiren Shū in the city of Fujisawa, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan.

It stands on the site of the former Tatsukuchi (or Tatsunokuchi) Execution Grounds.

There is a stone monument of 'Execution Grounds', although I did not notice.

I felt there is a mysterious space, but I did not feel hair-raising.

I think they mourn carefully for victims, so it should not be hair-raising.

Moreover, the area has a 'Five Heads Dragon Tradition', below

"A long long time ago, the Five Head Dragon no limit to the amount of bad things one does.

However, one day the dragon to fell in love to Benzaiten Enodhima Goddess.

Then the Dragon was penitent, changed to a Mountain and became the Guardian God of the area : Koshigoe of Kamakura. After reform, the name became 'Five Head Dragon Great God'."

Therefore basically there should be a lucky place.

There is a Tradition  : 'Tatsunokuchi Hounan' that Nichiren (1222 - 1282) was saved from his execution by a miracle.

'Hounan' means religious persecution.

D. 五重塔 / The Five-storied Pagoda

The Five-storied Pagoda
If we go up to the right of the main building,
we reach the Five-storied Pagoda.
While I climbed, I expected to see sea.
It was built in 1910.
This is made of Hinoki and the roof is made of copper.
It is the only wooden Five-storied Pagodaone in Kanagawa Prefecture.
There are very few Five-storied Pagoda
from the Meiji Period (1868 - 1912) in Japan.
Wooden carving by Yasunobu Ichigen (? -?).

Sea!
I can see some of the 'Shounan Great Bank' of Enoshima Island!
It is a lovely day so there seems to flourish with fishermen or women.
This view was captured by the camera's lens,
the view is very small by the naked eye.

The path still climbs towards a graveyard, I turned back here.
I thought I was the only sightseer here,
although I met a woman who looked like a tourist as I went back down.
The path is bright and has been developed,
so we can feel even a woman alone is alright here, can't we?

Bell Tower
When it was the 750th anniversary of Tatsu-no-kuchi Hounan
it was moved here from Hokekyō-ji Temple.
The bell weight is 2.6 ton.

Pray
We can ring this bell freely.
I rang the bell once with some offering of money.

In recent years, when I take an opportunity to pray at a temple,
a shrine and a church, I always pray the same.
'Become the world without war!'

Here is a dragon, too!

Looking Back at the Main Building

There is a person who taks a nap.
It was quiet and fine....

Daishoin : Great Study House
I felt it is a beautiful building and photographed.
Kubota Family in Nagano Prefecture, made their fortune
by sericulture industry and built this building in 1868.
In 1935, it was moved to here.
This is made of Hinoki and
the roof is made of ceramics tiles.
