Ohmicho-ichiba: Omicho Market 

現在、近江町市場 (オウミチョウイチバ) には、ジャンルは様々な、お店が185軒あります。

地元ではここを"オミョ"と呼びます。

住んでいれば、買い物もしますが、私は旅行先なので、見るだけ...

If I lived there, I would have shoping, now I am tourist, so just looking...

かわいい看板
このお店に気がついた時は、出発時間の15分ほど前でした。
お店が混んでいて、すっぐにはコーヒーは出せないと言われて諦めました。
まあ、カフェ内は喫煙OKだったので、時間があってもここには
入らなかったかもしれません...

Lovely Sign 
When we found this cafe it was just 15 minutes before departure.
There was packed, they could not service a cup of coffee quickly
and then we gave up.
Well they accept smokers, so even if we have time, 
we might not have coffee here...

Kenroku-en Map

Kenroku-en, a strolling-style landscape garden counted 

as one of the three Great Gardens of Japan.

与えられていた時間内では全てを見ることはできないので、

'霞ヶ池'と'瓢池' (ヒサゴイケ) の周囲のみを散策しました。公式HP: ★

It was impossible we could see all areas in our time,

so we only walked around 'Kasumiga-ike Pond' and 'Hisago-ike Pond'.

雪なしの兼六園
Kenroku-en Without Snow

この時期に北陸旅行を計画したのは、Rに雪の兼六園を見せたかったからでした。

おそらくこのツアーの参加者の殆どが雪の兼六園を期待していたのではないでしょうか？

私達が21日に羽田空港を離れた あとに、東京周辺では雪が降ったようです。

私達にとっては、なんともひにくな話。

能登半島でも金沢でも平均よりも暖かく、実際なら喜ぶべきことですが、私は少なからずがっかりしましたが、まあ、諦めもはやくつきました。

Kenroku-en Without Snow

I had planned our Hokuriku Trip in this season, because I would show R "Views of Kenroku-en in Snow". 

Perhaps most of our tour group also expected snow, didn't they?

We left Haneda Airport on 21st of January, and then I later heard that there was snow around Tokyo.

For us, it was very ironic.

Noto Peninsula and Kanazawa were warmer than average, usually we should be pleased, though I was a little disappointed, Oh! well.

霞ケ池周辺 : ★

Around Kasumiga-ike - Pond :★

蓬莱島(ホウライジマ)
蓬莱は仙人が住む場所。
別名は形が亀甲に似ているので、亀甲島 (キッコウジマ) と言います。
こう、聞いて '亀仙人' (カメセンニン/ ★) を思い浮かべるのは私だけでしょうか？

'Hourai island' 
They say Sennin : Hermit or Mountain wizard lives in Hourai,
so this island represents immortality.
Another name is 'Kikkou island' ; Kikkou means a tortoise shell.
 The form is like a tortoise shell, hence it is called 'Kikkou island'.
Tortoise is 'Kame' in Japanese.
After I got this information, perhaps
only I would have imagined 'Master Roshi' as 'Kame-Sennin'?
According to Dragon Ball Wikia about him : ★
"Master Roshi (武天老師, Muten Rōshi), also known as 
the Turtle Hermit (亀仙人, Kamesennin), 
is a major supporting protagonist in the Dragon Ball manga and 
Dragon Ball anime, who also makes a few appearances 
in Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT."

'雪吊り' は冬の風物詩
雪はありませんが、'雪吊り' はされています。

'Yukitsuri' is a Winter Tradition : ★ / ★
Even though there are not snow, 'Yukitsuri', protective ropes are there.
'Yukitsuri' preserve trees and shrubs from heavy snow 
and is a popular sight in the garden during the winter.

栄螺山 : ★ 
 Sazae-yama, Shellfish Hill : ★

栄螺山 (サザエヤマ) は、霞ケ池を堀広げたときの土で作った築山 (ツキヤマ)です。

サザエの漢字って、こんな字なんですね。

Sazae-yama / Shellfish Hill is an artificial hill.

 When Kasumiga-ike Pond was dug and enlarged,

the soil was used for the hill.

So they are protected and well cared for.

兼六園の庭づくりは、このあたり(蓮池庭 / レンチテイ) から始まったそうです。

They say around here used be called 'Renchi-tei' and 

was the beginning of Kenroku-en.

⓯北陸旅行- 金沢; 旧観音通り / Hokuriku Trip - Kanazawa ; Former Kannon -Street, 22nd of January, 2015

1) 旧観音通り

    Former Kannon-Street

私は、この通りが好きでした。

もう少し、ゆっくり見たかった〜！

歩いていた時は、'ひがし茶屋街'の一角かと思いましたが、違ったのですね。

旧観音町区域から卯辰山麓重要伝統的建造物群保存地区
 (ウタツサンロクジュウヨウデントウテキケンゾウブツホゾンチク)
 に組み込まれています。

金沢はいろいろな保存すべきものが多いようで、保護団体の名称は覚えられず、
区別も私にはつきません。

現在、金沢は世界遺産リスト登録をめざしているようです。

'経田屋米穀店' (キョウデンヤベイコクテン)
指定保存建造物、　国登録有形文化財
ここで買い物をしたわけではないけれど、素敵な店構えだったので撮影。
このお店は江戸 (1603 -1868) 末期に現在地で米穀商として創業し、
製粉業も兼ねる米店として金沢で最も古い一つです。

'Kyoudenyabeikokuten : Kyoudenya-Rice Shop'

Preservation Traditional Building

Registered tangible cultural properties

We did not have shopping here, although the building is lovely, 

so I took a photograph.

The merchant' s shop was established late Edo period (1603 -1868) here.

This is one of the oldest rice shops with their own milling in Kanazawa.

Former Kannon-Street

I like the street.

I would like to be relaxed and have more time there.

When I walked there I thought it was a part of 'Higashi Chaya District'.

In fact, it was "Former Kannon-Street".

There is 'Utatsusanroku Preservation Districts for Groups of Traditional Buildings'.

There are many preserved things and organizations in Kanazawa, so I cannot remember their names.

Today, Kanazawa is trying to gain nomination as a World Heritage Site.

それを知ったのは帰宅後、次回はぜひ立ち寄りたいと思います。

加賀れんこん

Kaga-Rencon

経田屋米穀店と道を挟んでお隣にあります。

I use this for my blog cover in February, 2015. 
This is next-door to 'Kyoudenya-Rice Shop' on the opposite side of the path.

旧芝田生菓子店 / Former Shibata Sweet Shop

松吉食料品店：★
創業昭和24年 (1949）
日本のデリカテッセンという感じがします。

Matsuyoshi Food Shop
This was established in 1949.
I feel it is a Japanese delicatessen.

2) ひがし茶屋休憩館

    Higashi Chaya Kyukeikan; Higashi Chaya Rest House

江戸 (1603 -1868) 末期の町家を復元。入場無料。

観光ボランティアガイド「まいどさん」がいて、ひがし茶屋街界隈のガイドをしています。★

This house is a restored late Edo period (1603 -1868)'s Machiya ; wooden town house  and entry is free.

There are volunteer guides : 'Maidosan' to explain the area around "Higashi Chaya District".I think the guides only speak in Japanese.

'Doen' is a soil floor as Engawa.

Traditionally in the  Hokuriku region , which has a lot of snow, 

people have used 'Doen' rather than Engawa.

'Doen' is closer to garden so people's feeling is more familiar with garden.
